Accessibility

Building a platform everyone can use.

Last updated:

Everyone deserves the chance to find their perfect companion. Here is how we approach accessibility at Yip and how to reach us if something isn’t working for you.

1.Our commitment

Yip is committed to making pet adoption accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We want every adopter to be able to browse pets, connect with organizations, and complete an adoption with confidence, regardless of how they access the web.

2.Standards we follow

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive differences.

3.What we do

Accessibility is part of how we build Yip. Our practices include:

  • Semantic, keyboard-navigable interfaces with visible focus states.
  • A “skip to main content” link on every page.
  • Meaningful text alternatives for images and clear labels for interactive controls.
  • Color choices and contrast intended to remain readable in both light and dark modes.
  • Support for screen readers and assistive technologies.

4.Ongoing effort

Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time project. We test as we build and work to fix issues as we find them. Some areas may not yet be fully accessible, and we are continually improving.

5.Feedback

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on Yip, we want to hear about it. Please email hello@getyip.app with a description of the issue and the page where you found it, and we will do our best to address it and provide the information you need in an accessible way.
