Your safety and the wellbeing of every pet come first. Keep these tips in mind as you adopt through Yip.
Adopt from verified organizations
Yip works with shelters and rescues, not individual sellers. Review an organization's profile and history, and don't hesitate to ask about their licensing and adoption process.
Keep communication on-platform
Use Yip's messaging to talk with organizations. Keeping conversations on-platform gives you a record and helps us keep the community safe.
Be cautious about payments
Legitimate adoption fees are paid directly to the organization through their normal process. Be wary of anyone asking for wire transfers, gift cards, or deposits to hold a pet sight unseen.
Meet the pet and the organization
Whenever possible, arrange a meet-and-greet or visit before finalizing. It's the best way to make sure the match is right for both of you.
Watch for red flags
Pressure to act immediately, prices that seem too good to be true, refusal to answer questions, or requests to move off-platform are all signs to slow down and verify.
Trust your instincts
If something feels off, pause. You're never obligated to continue, and you can always reach out to us if you have concerns about a listing or organization.
