• Account information — your name, email address, and authentication details, managed through our authentication provider.
• Adopter profile — details you choose to share to improve matching, such as your location, housing situation, lifestyle, and pet preferences.
• Communications — messages you exchange with shelters and rescues, and any inquiries you send to our team.
• Usage data — pages viewed, searches run, and general interaction data, along with device and browser information.
• Approximate location — derived from your IP address or provided by you, used to show nearby pets and organizations.

We use the information we collect to:

• Match you with pets and organizations relevant to your preferences.
• Enable messaging and coordinate the adoption process.
• Operate, maintain, and improve the platform.
• Keep the platform safe and prevent fraud or abuse.
• Communicate with you about your account, adoptions, and — where you have opted in — news and updates.

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to provide the service:

• With shelters and rescues when you contact them or begin an adoption, so they can respond and evaluate the match.
• With service providers who help us run the platform (for example, hosting, authentication, email delivery, and error monitoring), under agreements that limit their use of your data.
• For legal reasons, when required to comply with the law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.

You can review and update most profile information from your account settings at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in those messages. Essential service messages related to your account and adoptions are not promotional and may still be sent.

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and comply with our legal obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work continuously to protect your data.

Yip is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
