Felix and Wiwi were taken into the care of the Réseau Secours Animal in September 2024, when they were only 4 months old. Placed in a foster home upon their arrival, these poor babies suffered from rhinotracheitis and needed significant care, with Wiwi also being affected by conjunctivitis. Although they were treated, they had to return to the shelter afterward, where Wiwi's bad luck continued as he developed an ear infection and feline herpes. After finally recovering, Wiwi was able to reunite with his brother Felix. Unsurprisingly given his medical history, Wiwi tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), with more information available on the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association website at
, but he can still live a beautiful, long life strictly indoors, while his brother Felix does not carry this virus. Both brothers are, however, carriers of the feline herpes virus. Felix is doing very well and has not had a flare-up in a long time, but Wiwi experiences episodes 2 to 3 times a year, even though the situation is better right now. During his flare-ups, he gets conjunctivitis, which is effectively treated with Tobramycin, and develops rhinotracheitis, which is relieved by Azithromycin. Wiwi also seems to have food allergies, which explains his occasionally thin or patchy coat, so both brothers have been switched to hypoallergenic food and both take lysine daily to support their immune systems. Living in the quiet of a home, rather than the shelter, will greatly reduce their stress levels and potentially reduce these health episodes. They will be fearful at first, but we wish to have these two beautiful ginger cats adopted together since they have always been inseparable. Very playful and affectionate once they feel safe, they allow themselves to be handled, love to be cuddled, and will joyfully play with your shoelaces or any other everyday object. Who will want to offer a forever home to this inseparable duo?
They are adults, so the adoption fee for them is $550. They are sterilized, vaccinated and microchipped. Félix tested negative for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and for feline leukemia (FeLV). Wiwi is positive for FIV but negative for FeLV. You will also be provided with health insurances for the first 6 weeks following adoption. You will also have access to the support of the adoption team for as long as you need it. You will also have access to a free 30 minutes video consultation within the first month following adoption with our cat behaviour consultant FelineGood (
