Update on OSA :

at around 7 mos old, OSA is entering the adolescence stage of puppies.........lots of nipping, rough playing with the resident foster dog and generally " testing the limits". He is primarily housetrained although sometimes gets too excited and has occasional accidents.

As with all herding breed puppies, the next 12-18 mos are similar to human " teen age years" when dogs are surging with youthful exubrance & hormones .

During this period, consistent training, daily exercise, and clear boundaries are essential. Like teenagers, young herding dogs may test limits, become easily distracted, and occasionally make questionable decisions, but they are also incredibly intelligent and capable of learning quickly with patient, positive guidance.

This is the age when lifelong habits are formed. Continued socialization, mental enrichment, and regular activities help build a confident, well-mannered adult dog. Families who invest the time and commitment during these months are often rewarded with a loyal, devoted companion for many years to come.

Adopting a dog in this age range means embracing both the challenges and the tremendous rewards of helping shape an energetic young dog into an exceptional lifelong family member. Having someone with them every 4 hours until they are older greatly facilitates the housebreaking process as well as assists with the general
