Meet Buckey! Buckey had a difficult start in life, but he has shown just how resilient and loving he can be. When he first came into foster care, he was suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection, and his eyes were completely sealed shut. After lots of love, patience, and medication, this sweet boy has made an incredible recovery. Buckey has blossomed in his foster home. He enjoys having a feline friend around and has even started warming up to the resident dog. While he can be a little shy at first, his confidence grows a little more every day. He now has free roam of the house, loves belly rubs, and has recently started jumping up to cuddle with his foster mom while she relaxes in her chair. Because of the infection he had as a kitten, Buckey may experience occasional eye flare-ups. These are usually triggered by stress, such as a vet visit, or even changes in the weather. When they occur, his eyes may have some drainage, which is easily managed by gently wiping them with a soft makeup pad and applying Terramycin ointment as directed. The flare-ups typically resolve within a few days. He may eventually outgrow them, but we want potential adopters to be aware that he could require occasional eye care throughout his life. Buckey also has a good friend named Cinder in his foster home. They love to play together and would make a wonderful pair if you're looking to adopt two kittens, but Buckey would also do well on his own in the right home.
