Some puppies are born into loving homes with cozy beds waiting for them. Emerald's story began very differently.
Before Emmy and her nine siblings ever took their first breath, their brave Great Pyrenees mama, Lady Anne, was wandering alone, heavily pregnant and searching for somewhere—anywhere—to safely have her babies. With nowhere else to turn, she dug a small den beneath a rental house and gave birth to ten beautiful puppies, protecting them with nothing more than her determination and a mother's love.
For three days she cared for them completely on her own. No warm bed. No food bowl waiting for her. No one making sure she had fresh water. Just one devoted mama doing everything she could to keep her little family alive.
When the puppies were finally discovered, help could have come too late. Instead, Critter Cavalry Rescue was called, and that single phone call changed everything. At only three days old, Lady Anne and all ten puppies were safely transported to an experienced foster home where they were finally surrounded by safety, good food, gentle hands, and lots of love. Mama raised her babies there for seven wonderful weeks before they were divided into smaller foster homes, where each puppy could receive the individual attention every growing pup deserves.
One of those tiny miracles is our little Emerald...better known as Emmy.
Don't let her size fool you—this girl may have been the runt of the litter, but she has absolutely no idea she's the smallest. Emmy lives life with fearless confidence, endless curiosity, and enough personality to keep everyone laughing.
She is incredibly intelligent, wonderfully playful, and she loves to "talk." Whether she's announcing that it's playtime, asking for attention, or simply sharing her opinion, Emmy always has something to say. We sometimes joke that there must be a little Husky or Australian Shepherd somewhere in her family tree because she's just that expressive—but with dad being a mystery, we'll never know for sure.
Despite being the smallest, Emmy keeps right up with the much larger dogs in her foster home and thinks nothing of joining every adventure. She also adores children and has formed a special bond with her foster family's 11-year-old. Confident, affectionate, mischievous, and incredibly entertaining, she's the kind of puppy who will make you laugh every single day.Emmy isn't just looking for a family—she's looking for people who will appreciate her zest for life, celebrate her spunky personality, and include her in all of life's adventures. In return, she'll fill your home with laughter, loyalty, and more love than you ever imagined could fit inside one little puppy.
Emerald is currently in Nashville, Tennessee, and will be ready to transport north to her forever home beginning August 5th.
