For days, he wandered back and forth, crying into the quiet night like he was calling for someone who had simply forgotten to come back for him. Anyone who heard him could feel it—this wasn’t just a stray cat. He was looking for home.
The first time volunteers went out to find him, he was gone. They searched for over an hour, calling softly, hoping he’d answer. But the night stayed still.
Then came a message—he’s back.
Within minutes, one of the volunteers returned. And there he was, eating quietly, as if exhaustion had finally outweighed his fear. When she reached for him, he didn’t run. He didn’t fight. He allowed himself to be picked up, gently placed into a carrier—like he still trusted that being chosen meant he was safe.
When they scanned him and found a microchip, hope filled the room. This had to be it. After everything, he was going home.
But he wasn’t.
At 11 years old, “Sensei” had already lived several lives. Adopted at three, forgotten years later. Found again by someone who cared, who gave him warmth, who even claimed him as their own when no one else came forward.
For a little while, it seemed like he had finally found his place.
Until he didn’t.
Two months after being loved and wanted, he was gone again—left to cry outside, searching, waiting, hoping. This time, no one came looking. Not the first person. Not the second. Not even the third, who once called him theirs.
Three times, he gave his heart away.
Three times, he was left behind.
And still… he trusted.
That first night in safety, he drank nearly 20 ounces of water, as if his body was trying to recover from everything his heart had endured. But he didn’t stop being gentle. He didn’t stop being loving.
Now, he rests somewhere warm, finally able to sleep without fear.
Soon, he will be given another chance.
Somehow, despite everything, he still believes that the next person won’t leave. Will that next person be you?
Despite a rough start, he remains a loving, cuddly companion who adores pets and affection. While he isn't a lap cat, he tolerates being held briefly and loves hanging out near his favorite person. Sensei strongly fears other cats and must be in a home with no other pets.
