INTRODUCING CALLIOPE - DOB est 4/27/2023, female, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped...
Calliope showed up in an a local feral colony earlier this year where (it is suspected) she was dumped. She was sweet as pie, super friendly, definitely not feral, and clearly pregnant, so she came to Forgotten Felines of Huntsville. She gave birth to 6 kittens on June 14th - sadly, one kitten passed away at only a few hours old, but the remaining 5 have been perfectly healthy.
Calliope has been a wonderful mama to her kittens, but now it's time for her to be the baby! She is a very sweet and friendly girl who has never met a stranger. She'll come right up to you to be petted, and if you're lucky she'll climb into your lap for a snuggle. She has an instant purr, loves to be petted, and she's perfectly fine with being kissed. Flip her over and hold her on her back like a baby, and she'll just lie there and purr like crazy. She is extremely interested in what you're doing and will follow you around to snoopervise as you organize a closet, sort through your mail, and if you just want to lie on the couch and watch TV, she's up for that too. She loves to sit in the window and watch birds (and the neighbors walk by - did we mention she's ever so slightly nosy?) and follow patches of sunlight as they move across the room over the course of a day. When her kittens were tiny, she was very caught up in caring for them and didn't have much energy for much else, but now that they're older she's starting to play. She enjoys having toys tossed for her, she LOVES to carry fuzzy balls around the room, and likes to bat at rattly mice. Did we mention that she likes to be petted? Sure does! She's fine with other cats (as long as they're introduced slowly). She hasn't been around dogs in her foster home, but would likely be fine with cat-friendly dogs. She has been spayed, vaccinated and ID chipped, and is ready to go!
We are located in Huntsville, Alabama; out of area adoptions are allowed, but adopters must come here to complete the adoption: she DOES have her drivers license, but is so busy watching what everyone else is doing that she tends to run that car right off into the ditch. Email Forgotten Felines of Huntsville at INFO@FFHSV.ORG to inquire, or fill out an online application at the Link above!
