And when you leave me home alone? I don’t bark or make a fuss.Pretty impressive, right?But my favourite thing of all is spending time with my person. I love companionship and can be quite the little shadow. If you’re home, I’d prefer to know where you are—and ideally be somewhere nearby! If you wander off to another room without me, I may occasionally let you know that I’m available for company. What can I say? I just really like my people.My Ideal HomeI’m not looking for a house full of chaos. I’d be happiest with people who enjoy having a little companion close by. I can be a bit sensitive around other dogs, especially dominant personalities. I’m definitely not looking for a fight—if another dog makes me uncomfortable,I’m much more likely to back away than react. I may do best as the only dog or with a calm, respectful canine companion.Young children aren't the best match for me, so I’m looking for a home with teenagers aged 15+ or adults.Cats may actually be okay with me! I don’t bark at them, and if a cat stands its ground and doesn’t run, I don’t chase. Sometimes, I’m the one who seems a little intimidated! If faced with a dominant dog, he tends to get scared and back off rather than react — not a fighter.Cats: Doesn't bark at cats — if a cat stands its ground and doesn't run, he doesn't chase either, and can even seem intimidated by them. With a proper introduction, he's likely to get along well with cats. No video yet available of him with a cat.Kids: Doesn't do well with young children. If there are kids in the home, they should be teenagers (15+).Separation: Doesn't bark or vocalize when left alone in the house. However, he craves closeness — if you're home but not right next to him, he may bark to get attention. Wants spend time near his person.Chewing/Destructive Behavior: No destructive chewing habits; doesn't damage belongings.Training: I'm fully potty trained, and have wonderful house manners. And know basic commands.Leash skills: Yes! I enjoy my walks and walk nicely on leash.House trained: Yes.I have been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.My adoption fee is $850.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Toronto. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee.[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper.
