Patch
6 year old neutered Cattle Dog mix
Who needs a couch potato? Seriously, forget everything you have ever heard about Cattle Dogs! Patch does not need long walks, mental stimulation, a job, exercise or any other activity. Just let him be in the same room as you, tell him he’s a good boy and scratch his head. He’s happy as he can be. Well, he does need to go out to potty 3 times a day but it doesn’t take him long. Now don’t take me wrong. He does like to do zoomies or just run around but only for about 15 minutes. Not endless energy.
Patch is completely safe to leave in the house uncrated. No messes. No chewing. Only bad habit is he does like to check out what’s on the counter. You won’t even know he’s in the house. He will find a quiet corner to lie down and that’s where he will stay. If you leave him, he will watch you out the window and do the most pathetic whine. Then settles down and waits for your return.
I do recommend a house with no young children. Patch has led a very sheltered life. Loud noises, commotion, kids running around would make him nervous. Also a fenced yard would be ideal. If he gets a chance, he takes off. Again, not for long but he does quickly disappear.
I see Patch with an older person or couple that lives a quiet life. Heck, he doesn’t even want to go on a Sunday drive! And he would be happiest being the only dog. He pretty much ignores cats. He may decide to play with the cat but again, not often and just for a minute or two.
Patch is fostered through ACDRA in Salem Ohio. He is current on vaccines, flea & tick prevention, heartworm prevention and wormer. Would you like to learn more about this boy?
