❤️ Personality & Breed Information
Brownie is a friendly, social three-year-old boy with a wonderfully balanced personality. He enjoys being around people, gets along well with other dogs, and has a nice energy level—happy to be active and engaged without being constantly on the go.
Brownie is also a smart boy who responds well to commands and has good leash skills. He has experience both on and off leash, although any new adopter should keep him securely leashed or in a fenced area until a strong bond and reliable recall have been established in his new home.
As a Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix, Brownie may share many of the qualities Labs are loved for, including intelligence, sociability, trainability, and a strong desire to be part of family life. His smaller 20-pound size makes him a unique little package with plenty of personality.
Brownie would thrive with a family that provides plenty of companionship, regular walks and exercise, continued positive-reinforcement training, mental enrichment, and opportunities to be included in everyday family activities.
Training, Adjustment & What to Expect
Brownie already has a great foundation with his commands and leash manners, but every dog needs time to adjust when entering a new home.
Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule:
3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe
3 Weeks to understand his new household routine
3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home
His new family should continue reinforcing his existing skills with positive, consistent training. Even though Brownie has done well off leash, this should not be assumed to transfer immediately to a new person or environment. His adopter should first establish a strong relationship and reliable recall, and off-leash activity should only occur where it is safe and legally permitted.
Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care
Brownie has received his DHPP vaccination and has been dewormed. He is not currently microchipped.
Brownie is also not neutered because he has cryptorchidism, meaning one or both testicles have not descended normally. His future family should discuss this condition with a veterinarian. Cryptorchid dogs are generally recommended to have the retained testicle(s) surgically removed because leaving them in place carries an increased risk of complications, including testicular cancer and torsion.
His adopter should continue providing routine veterinary examinations, recommended vaccinations and boosters, parasite prevention, dental care, quality nutrition, regular exercise, and any veterinary treatment necessary for his cryptorchidism.
