Meet Josie Jo!
Josie Jo’s story started on a back road outside Houston, where this sweet merle English Bulldog was found in rough shape. She was barely 10 months old, dealing with skin issues, no muscle strength in her rear end, and a raging UTI that turned out to be connected to bladder stones.
Her foster family quickly realized Josie needed more than promises—she needed someone willing to make sure she got everything she needed. So they stepped up and have helped her through months of veterinary procedures.
After prescription food, lots of vet care, ongoing UTI issues and eventually surgery to correct her anatomy, Josie is now a happy, healthy, 54-pound bulldog who is ready for the next part of her story. And yes, she’ll need to stay on her prescription urinary diet for life, but otherwise this girl is ready to roll!
Josie is crate trained, good with other dogs her size and has successfully enjoyed boarding and doggy daycare, and has four resident dogs she absolutely adores. She’s sweet, playful and affectionate—with just enough bulldog stubbornness to remind you who you’re dealing with.
She would do best with no young children because Josie is enthusiastic about treats and needs to be reminded that fingers are not snacks. She can also get a little too interested in smaller dogs, so a home with a male dog her size —or as your one-and-only—may be the best fit.
As much as Josie's foster family would like to keep her, sometimes loving a dog means being honest about what she needs to thrive. Josie Jo has been given the care, patience and second chance she deserved. Now we're looking for the right forever family to keep that promise going.
