Buddy (A143180) is a 7-month-old lab mix who weighed about 45 pounds at intake!09/02/26 Buddy is back at the shelter after a short stay with his prior home and is now looking for a dedicated home to help guide him as he matures. Buddy is still a puppy. He will need continued guidance with house training, kennel training, riding in a car, and help work on his manners. This boy would highly benefit from a puppy class where he can get proper socialization in a controlled setting and the guidance of a certified dog trainer to address his nervousness with strangers. He is very food motivated too, which will help with working on his insecurities by creating a positive association. Please ensure your family is ready for the responsibility of raising a puppy prior to considering adopting Buddy. He really needs a family that is ready for this big commitment. Buddy is still a puppy, so he is looking for a patient home that can help him master potty training and basic obedience. He is a very loving and affectionate dog once he is comfortable. He is quite timid at first around strangers. He was said to do well with babies and children, but we do not know how he feels about other animals. Please make sure any and all introductions are done in a safe and controlled manner to allow for the best possible outcome. Buddy has been known to chew and scratch. He can also be vocal and will get into the trash if the opportunity presents itself. He was described as friendly, affectionate, and shy. He can be rough when playing and has been known to jump on people. Please keep this in mind if you have small children in the home.
