Forever home wanted, meet Mimi! Mimi is one lucky puppy that the shelter was good about working with us to save her. Mimi's rescue journey started back on August 18 when her owner brought her into the Palmdale shelter and surrendered her for unknown reason. She received the best possible score on intake and was said to be happy, wiggly and readily approached for affection.
Mimi's shelter experience took a bit of a turn when three days later, her kennel mate would come down with the dreaded parvo virus. That's never good in any situation, let alone in the shelter environment. Mimi was immediately put on the veterinary staff's radar for observation due to being exposed to the virus. They put out a rescue plea for her in the meantime in the event she would fall ill.
Luckily, Mimi never showed any symptoms and after 10 days of monitoring, they cleared her from the parvo exposed status. We had a foster lined up and very happy to be a part of Mimi's journey to a second chance and forever home so we were able to get her out of the shelter on 9/2.
Reports from the foster after just one day is that she is a perfect dog. She's very loving, walks great on the leash, potty trained, loves to play fetch, great with everyone she meets and is good with the foster's dog and cats! She slept through the night her first night in the home.
