MEET MIKE TYSON — THE FIGHTER WHO WON HIS BIGGEST BATTLE
Some animals arrive at the shelter simply needing a new home.
Others arrive needing someone to fight for them.
Mike Tyson needed an entire community in his corner.
When Mike first came into our care, he was feral, injured, terrified, and unsure of the people around him. He wasn’t a cat who immediately understood that hands could be gentle, people could be safe, or that he didn’t have to face everything alone anymore.
On top of being frightened, Mike was dealing with a significant injury that ultimately required emergency surgery and extensive aftercare.
And that’s when something pretty incredible happened.
Our community stepped into the ring with him.
When we asked for help covering Mike’s emergency medical expenses, donations started coming in. What made his story even more meaningful wasn’t one or two huge donations that saved the day — it was $3 here, $5 there, and countless people deciding that this little cat they’d never met was worth helping.
Those small donations added up.
They helped pay for his emergency surgery.
They helped provide his aftercare.
They helped save Mike Tyson.
But medical care was only one part of his recovery.
Mike also needed someone willing to show a terrified, feral cat that life could be different.
Enter one absolutely phenomenal foster: Kayla.
Between an incredible community supporting him, Kayla giving him a safe place to recover and learn to trust, and shelter staff continuing to work with him, something started changing.
The scared feral cat who came through our doors began realizing that maybe this whole “people” thing wasn’t so terrible after all.
Little by little, Mike healed — both physically and emotionally.
His surgical site healed beautifully, his stitches have officially been removed, and somewhere along the way Mike made another pretty major decision:
The feral life is no longer for him.
Mike Tyson is officially ready to retire from fighting for survival and start living the spoiled-house-cat life he deserves.
This boy has come SO FAR in such a short amount of time.
From feral, injured and terrified…
To safe, healed, learning to trust and ready for a family of his very own.
Mike’s story is the perfect example of what can happen when rescue truly becomes a community effort. It took donors, a dedicated foster, hardworking shelter staff, veterinary care, patience, and a whole lot of love to get him here.
And now there’s only one final piece missing from his story.
His forever family.
Maybe you’ve been following Mike Tyson’s journey from the beginning.
Maybe you were one of the people who donated $3 or $5 toward his care.
Maybe you’ve been waiting to hear that he finally made it.
Well… HE MADE IT.
Mike Tyson fought his way through the hardest part.
Now he doesn’t need another opponent.
He needs a family.
If you’ve been waiting for your chance to meet this incredibly special boy and make him part of your family, now is the time.
Mike Tyson is healed.
Mike Tyson is ready.
And after everything he’s been through, we’d love nothing more than to watch him walk out of the shelter for the last time…
not as a feral cat, not as an injured cat, and not as a patient — but as somebody’s beloved family member.
Mike Tyson is officially looking for his forever home!
Come meet the little fighter who had an entire community in his corner.
