Meet Coconut!
At Home
Coconut is an absolute lovebug and a constant little shadow. He’s incredibly gentle, sweet, and happiest when he’s right beside his favorite person. Whether he’s snuggling next to you on the couch, getting belly rubs, or being scooped up and held like a baby, Coconut loves being close and feeling safe.
He can be a little jumpy around loud or unexpected sounds, and loud noises can really frighten him. Once he realizes he’s safe, though, he completely melts and shows you his sweet, affectionate personality.
When he’s relaxing, Coconut’s curious side really shines. He loves perch-watching out the window, and if a squirrel runs across the yard, he becomes completely captivated! He also enjoys chewing on a good bone and settling in for a cozy chew session.
Coconut is a gentle, playful boy who really enjoys spending time with small dogs and kids. His absolute favorite place to be is right next to his person—especially if he gets to be scooped up and held close.
And Coconut loves his food and treats! He’s a slow, dainty eater who prefers to pick at his food bit by bit. Eating too quickly can upset his stomach, so small meals or a slow-feeder help keep his tummy happy.
Away From Home
Out in the world, Coconut’s shy side comes out a little more. New places, busy streets, and sudden noises can make him cautious and very aware of his surroundings. Loud noises are particularly scary for him, so he does best in calm, quiet environments where he isn’t overwhelmed.
Coconut is also fearful of men and may need extra time and patience to feel comfortable around them. He really looks to his human for reassurance and does best when he’s allowed to take things at his own pace.
He’s not the type to confidently rush into a new environment. Instead, he prefers to observe, process everything around him, and slowly build trust. With a calm approach, patience, and a reassuring person by his side, his curiosity starts to shine through—and that little nose of his eventually takes over, especially if there happens to be a squirrel nearby!
Coconut is a tender, affectionate boy who thrives when he feels safe, loved, and understood. Give him time, patience, and a cozy spot beside you, and you’ll have the sweetest little shadow by your side. ❤️
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.
