Scooter stops people in their tracks — a glossy black coat, bright expressive eyes, and a joyful little puppy face that truly smiles at the world. Scooter is outgoing, energetic, and eager to please. He enjoys meeting new people of all shapes and sizes, playing with robust happy-go-lucky large dogs, and training. He loves toys as well as exploring, and settles beautifully once he’s had his fun. Indoors, he’s polite and curious; outdoors, he’s a happy little adventurer. Scooter is calm in the car (even a convertible with the top down!), clean/quiet in his crate, and housetrained on a predictable and frequent schedule. Scooter has moderate energy, and would love to be your one and only, or share his home with a cat or other dog(s). Scooter's perfect dog-match in his new home would probably be a large dog(s) who is goofy, not territorial, able to correct a young and obnoxious puppy fairly, and not a resource guarder or one who overreacts. Small, submissive and non-playful dogs would not find Scooter endearing. Scooter has lived with cats and lets them co-exist in peace, though a chase in good fun is always an option if they run. Scooter is looking for an attentive person/family who is familiar with dog behavior and committed to any necessary training, including continuing to guide him through the basics of further training and life socialization. Scooter has the temperament, intelligence, and eagerness that will make his life journey not only enjoyable but also extremely rewarding for the right adopter. Scooter's Backstory: Scooter and his sister Maggie came from a rural property where the two puppies had been abandoned. Despite that rough start, both pups have shown nothing but confidence, resilience, and a natural trust in people. They were raised in an active rural foster home with 10 acres, adults, kids, and other well balanced dogs, giving them a strong foundation in social skills, lots of exercise, and daily routine. They have transitioned nicely to more urban/suburban living in Rhode Island.

We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence.
