Meet Joy
Joy is a sweet, gentle young dog who has really blossomed in her foster home. She can be a little reserved when meeting new people or experiencing something unfamiliar, but she warms up quickly once she knows she's safe. She prefers to approach new people on her own terms, which means no jumping all over visitors!
Joy currently lives with an 11-year-old male dog and a young female puppy. She gets along well with both. She enjoys playing with other dogs, but she's not a rough-and-tumble wrestler and would probably prefer a calmer canine companion. She's playful, but also knows how to settle on her own after playtime.
Some of Joy's best qualities are her wonderful manners and easygoing nature:
House trained
Crate trained and comfortable being crated
Quiet in her crate—no whining or crying
Walks nicely on a loose leash
Knows her name and basic commands
Sits and waits at thresholds
Rides nicely in the car
Polite eater with no food aggression
Shares toys
Respects household boundaries
Not a destructive chewer
Not a barker, even when her foster siblings are barking
Able to settle and relax on her own
Joy enjoys being active and recently handled a 1.25-mile walk with her foster family with no problem. She could make a wonderful walking or running companion as she continues to build her fitness.
Joy was calm and comfortable when tested with male visitors. She also did well during a visit to a neighbor's home, where she was introduced to new people and their dog and allowed to interact at her own pace. She seems to like children, although a home without very young or especially rambunctious children may be best because sudden loud noises can make her uncomfortable.
Joy is a sweet, playful, well-mannered girl who doesn't need to be the center of attention. She's happy to play, go for a walk, hang out with her people, and then settle down for a nice nap.

We strongly recommend that the entire family participates in puppy training classes. This not only helps build a strong bond with your new pup but also ensures that everyone is using the same commands and techniques, creating a clear and consistent environment for learning.
Joy did attend Doglando and got some basic pup training for two weeks but she will need to continue training with her family.
