Approx. Date of Birth: 7/25/2024| Betty is a sweet, affectionate young black cat, approximately 2 years old, who is discovering just how wonderful indoor life can be. Betty started out as a community cat in a gated neighborhood, where several kind neighbors made sure she was fed and cared for. She was trapped and TNR'd, but it quickly became clear that this little girl belonged in a home, so her fosters took her in and gave her a chance at indoor life. And Betty has embraced it. Once she feels safe, Betty is an absolute sweetheart. She loves cuddling, giving little head bumps, and curling up in your lap while you work. She's also quite the Chatty Cathy and is happy to have a conversation with her humans, especially if food might be involved! One of the sweetest parts of Betty's journey has been watching her learn how to play. When she first came indoors, she didn't quite understand what her fosters were doing when they brought out toys. After a few weeks, something clicked, and now she LOVES to play and is always ready for a play session. Because indoor life is still relatively new to Betty, she can be shy and easily overwhelmed by unfamiliar people, places, or too much stimulation. She may hide at first and needs a patient adopter who will let her explore and settle in at her own pace. Give her that time, though, and you'll get to meet the wonderfully chill, affectionate, playful girl underneath. Betty currently lives with a senior dog, and the two peacefully ignore each other. She's comfortable around him and isn't afraid of him, so we think she could potentially do well with a calm, respectful older dog, especially a smaller one. Adult cats are a little more complicated for Betty. She currently lives with three adult cats and seems frightened and unsure around them, sometimes hissing or rushing toward them when she's scared. Because of this, Betty may be happiest as the only adult cat in her home. Betty has already come such a long wayfrom a neighborhood cat who didn't know what toys were to a cuddly little house panther who wants a lap, a good meal, a play session, and someone to chat with. Her perfect person will give her a little patience at the beginning and a whole lot of love afterward.
