Meet Maddie! This 3-year old tuxedo delight came to us from a local shelter with her sister, Daisy, when her owner could no longer care for her. This adorable salt and pepper pup loves to snuggle, loves to walk (and make doggie friends!), is great in the car and uber dog-friendly, and is ready to find her forever!
Maddie was under-socialized in an apartment for the first 3 years of her life and is still very shy and unsure in any new situation. But we are happy to report that she is making great strides in her foster home! Of the two sisters, Maddie has been the first to try new things, like greeting dogs on walks and working hard to master house training. The world is a whole new place for her, literally, so every single day she is exposed to new things. Even toys are something totally foreign to the girls. Some things make her run away, some she accepts with innocent curiosity, so it has been interesting to watch her grow into a more confident version of herself.
Our snuggly black-eyed pea lives to be close to her people! She loves to sit between her human’s legs and chill (after clomping over their lap to find just the right spot). Oh, and this foodie loves every morsel of every piece of food ever offered to her. Ever. Equal parts penguin, low-ridin’ panda, and magic 8 ball, this little loon is cute and affectionate, with a sense of wide-eyed wonder as she begins to realize all that the world has to offer. Oh, and those ears have a mind of their own! Because of her fearfulness and a lack of history, older or no kids would be best for this petite black and white cookie.
Maddie’s top 3 priorities:
- A family who is patient and willing to work through her fear of new things.
- A family willing to continue to work on house-training. It is hard to break a 3 year habit, so creating an encouraging and positive environment to celebrate every success is key.
- A family of snugglers, with zero personal space issues, who will allow the dog to sleep in bed.
