Meet Dozer! At just 2 years old, Dozer has already been through more than most dogs experience in a lifetime.Dozer's journey to us started in Georgia, but along the way, he became frightened during a transport transfer, slipped away, and went missing. What followed was a three-week search effort involving countless dedicated people determined to bring him to safety. A special thank you goes to the incredible team at LARG in Perryville, whose passion for animals never wavered. Using drones, cameras, and countless hours of hard work, they were able to locate Dozer hiding in a nearby yard close to where he first disappeared. The day he finally stepped into the trap and was safely recovered was a day worth celebrating. Now, Dozer is safe and learning that the world isn't such a scary place. The Dozer we've come to know is a sweet, gentle little dog hidden beneath a curled tail and nervous shiver. He can be very shy when meeting new people, and trust doesn't come instantly, but once you've earned it, you're part of his circle. After a couple of weeks with us, Dozer began greeting his favorite people with tail wags and quiet excitement, which has been incredibly rewarding to watch.Dozer is looking for a special adopter who understands that building confidence takes time. He needs someone willing to put his needs first, move at his pace, and celebrate the small victories along the way. Because of his history, Dozer must always be kept on a leash when outside and will go home with his harness.Dozer does well around dogs his size and is generally indifferent to them, but large, energetic dogs are not his style. He has not shown any issues with cats. Due to his timid nature, he is searching for a home with children 12 and older, as loud noises and sudden movements can cause him to become frightened and seek a place to hide.A securely fenced yard is required for Dozer's safety and peace of mind.If you're the kind of person who believes that the best relationships are built on patience, trust, and unconditional love, Dozer may be the perfect match for you. His journey has been long, but we're confident his happy ending is still waiting to be written. ❤️Dozer's adoption fee is $150, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations.
