Holly may have come to us as part of the Senior Six, but this beautiful little redhead has a secret… she’s not actually a senior! At just 5 years old, Holly is a gorgeous little purebred long haired Dachshund with big brown eyes, an adorable smile, and just the right amount of sass. Holly spent her life as one of six beloved little dogs living with their elderly Mom and Dad. For years, they were pampered, cuddled, groomed, taken to the vet, and most importantly, loved. They were a family. Then their world changed. Their mom was diagnosed with leukemia and, just a few short months later, she passed away. Suddenly, Holly and the other five little dogs had lost one of the people they had known and loved their entire lives. Dad loved his babies dearly, but he was also struggling with serious health problems. Eventually, caring for six dogs became more than he could physically and mentally manage. After Dad experienced a medical emergency at home, a concerned neighbor came to check on him and then went inside to make sure his little dogs were okay. It became clear that everyone needed help. The dogs were dealing with the effects of a severe flea infestation and needed veterinary care. Their situation was heartbreaking, especially knowing how loved they had been throughout their lives. Dad ultimately made one of the hardest decisions a pet owner can make: he asked for help and surrendered his six little companions so they could receive the care and attention they needed. And that’s how Holly’s next chapter began. Despite all the changes she’s experienced, Holly’s sassy little personality is still shining through. She’s sweet, funny, full of character, and has that classic Dachshund attitude packed into one adorable little body. Just look at that smile and tongue hanging out! At only 5 years old, Holly has so much life ahead of her. She already knows what it feels like to belong to a family, and now she needs someone to give her that feeling again. Holly didn’t lose her home because she wasn’t loved. She lost it because sometimes life changes in ways no one can control. Now this sweet little redhead is ready for her fresh start—a cozy bed, plenty of love, someone willing to appreciate all those Dachshund opinions, and a family she can call her own again.
