She may have a wicked name, but this 1-year-old, 11-pound Shih Tzu mix is much more sweetheart than witch.

Elphaba is dog friendly and absolutely adorable, but unlike her namesake, she isn’t quite ready to defy gravity just yet. She is very skittish and nervous around people, and she’ll need a patient adopter who is willing to give her the time and space she needs to feel safe. Trust may not happen overnight, but with kindness, consistency, and a little patience, we know this sweet girl has so much love waiting underneath those nerves. Having another friendly dog around may even help show Elphaba that the world—and the people in it—aren’t quite so scary.

She doesn’t need the Wizard, the Emerald City, or a spell to change her life. She just needs someone willing to believe in her, move at her pace, and give her the chance to finally learn what it means to feel safe and loved.

Elphaba is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $350.
