Meet Carl Dean
This handsome 6 lb Poodle mix was rescued with his packmate, Dolly. Both have officially retired from the breeding life and are discovering how wonderful it is to be loved and cared for.
Carl came from a breeder who retired him and then sold him on Facebook Marketplace to a young man who soon realized he had more dogs than he could care for. Thankfully, he reached out to Worthy Dog Rescue for help finding Carl a proper home.
Carl is currently in a foster home living with a foster mom, two other dogs, and a cat. He has proven to be a sweet little guy who is a bit shy and nervous at first, but he warms up quickly. He loves being with his people and is definitely a little Velcro dog. He can be a nervous barker when he’s unsure about something, but he settles down quickly as he becomes more comfortable.
He is house trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on leash. He doesn’t seem particularly interested in long walks right now, but he’s also recovering from his recent dental work and needs some recoup time. We also think he’s still figuring out what it means to feel safe and settled.
Carl is great with other dogs of all sizes and enjoys being around them. He doesn’t necessarily need another dog in his home, but he would be perfectly happy having a canine companion. He is also good with cats. He was initially scared of them, but has warmed up nicely to the cats who have given him some space.
He is just beginning to discover toys and chew bones and is starting to show more of his personality every day. He may be little, but he has proven to be incredibly resilient, and we think there is still a lot more of Carl’s personality to come out as he settles into his new life.
Because Carl is small and can be nervous around loud noises and sudden movements, we think he would do best in a home without young children. He also can be a bit of a yapper, so an apartment may not be the best fit.
Carl may not be ready to be the dog who goes everywhere and does everything right away, but we think he is an adaptable little guy who will continue to blossom with patience, consistency, and time.
We already adore this sweet little guy and can’t wait to see him discover just how good life can be.
