Izzy is a petite 17‑pound Shiba Inu with a big personality and all the charm this breed is known for. She was surrendered to dog control after repeatedly slipping out of her previous yard — and honestly, the fence didn’t stand a chance against a clever Shiba. We were asked to help, and since we know and love the breed, we scooped her up right away.
Izzy is very much a classic Shiba: smart, confident, energetic, independent, and yes… stubborn in the funniest ways. She is also affectionate and loyal to her person, forming a strong bond once she trusts you. She enjoys gentle pets, seeks out attention on her terms - (as in when she wants it), and is starting to get used to being brushed — a big win for a Shiba with a double coat.
She is crate trained, quiet in her crate unless she needs to go out, and perfectly housetrained. Shibas are naturally clean dogs, and Izzy fits that to a T. She does well with other dogs and has even started to play, which is wonderful progress. Like many Shibas, she has a fun vocal range — excited yips, a little howl, and all the quirky noises Shiba lovers adore.
Izzy loves being outside and thrives with a fully fenced yard, which will be required in her adoptive home. No invisible fences. Because she’s small and clever, we strongly prefer a stockade or panel-style fence to prevent any escape routes. She hasn’t tried to escape her foster home once, but she has found hiding spots when she doesn’t want to come inside, keeping everyone on their toes.
Izzy is not a shadow dog — she’s typically independent and enjoys her space — but she is deeply loyal, smart, affectionate, and an amazing companion for someone who understands the breed. If you know Shibas, you already know how special Izzy is.
Izzy is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $475
We require a martingale collar at the time of adoption. If you do not have one, you may purchase one from Pixie Mamas for an additional $10 to ensure the dpg's safety and security.
