Meet Nokomis — A Sweet Little Puppy Looking for His Forever Home!

Are you ready to add a little sweetness, silliness, and puppy love to your life? Meet Nokomis! This adorable little guy is looking for a loving forever home where he can grow, learn, and become the very best version of himself. ❤️

Nokomis is a happy, playful puppy who is full of personality! He has that special puppy charm that makes him so easy to fall in love with. He enjoys playing, exploring, and, of course, treats! If there’s food involved, you can bet Nokomis will be interested. His love of treats may also come in handy as he continues learning new things and building his confidence.

While Nokomis has a fun and playful side, he can be a little cautious when meeting new people. He may need some extra time to feel comfortable around someone new, so a patient and understanding family will be important for him. Rather than rushing him, allowing him to approach at his own pace and rewarding his brave moments will help him learn that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. Once he feels more comfortable, his sweet personality has so much room to shine!

Like many puppies, Nokomis is still learning all about the big world around him. Leash training is a work in progress, and right now, he sometimes freezes when he’s on the leash. He will need someone willing to work with him patiently, offering plenty of encouragement, gentle guidance, and tasty treats along the way. With time, consistency, and positive reinforcement, he can continue building confidence and learning that the leash can be part of fun adventures, exercise, and those important potty breaks.

Nokomis is also working on crate training. He can be vocal in his crate and may take a while to settle down, so his future family should be prepared to help him learn that his crate is a safe, comfortable place to relax. Patience, consistency, and a gentle approach will be important as he adjusts to his new surroundings and routine.

Please remember that Nokomis is still a puppy! He is learning, growing, and figuring out what is expected of him. He won't have everything mastered overnight, but with a family willing to invest time, love, and positive training, he has the opportunity to make wonderful progress. ❤️

✨ What makes Nokomis special? He's sweet, cute, and full of personality. He's happy and playful, with plenty of puppy fun to share. He loves treats and food, making them great tools for training. He has a softer, more cautious side that deserves patience and understanding. He's a work in progress who needs someone willing to help him learn and grow.

Nokomis is looking for more than just a place to live. He needs a family who will see his potential, celebrate his little victories, and stand by him as he gains confidence in new situations. Someone who understands that the best relationships take time and that watching a puppy blossom into a confident, loving companion can be one of life's sweetest rewards.

Imagine all the happy moments ahead: watching him discover his favorite toys, celebrating when he learns something new, enjoying playful puppy antics, and building a bond that grows stronger every day. With the right person by his side, Nokomis has so many wonderful experiences waiting for him!

If you have a loving heart, a little patience, and a willingness to help a young pup navigate the world, Nokomis may be the perfect addition to your family.

Nokomis is ready to start the next chapter of his life. Could that chapter be with you? ❤️

I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready!

**Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work!

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
