Doggie Day Out 10/7:Lucas is an active old man who could use a fast pace. Despite being a senior he was climbing and descending stairs like a puppy. He is so friendly and seems to be used to people. Folks would walk by, talk loudly, run by and nothing seemed to distract him from observing his environment, sniffing grass, and fast-walking. He did SO WELL when other peoples dogs were off leash at the park or when reactive dogs in old sac would bark at him. He would respond with a gentle curiosity but move on quickly to sniff the world. Lucas was so ready to go on his adventure today. He jumped right into the car and patiently let me buckle him in every time. First we stopped at Southside Park. There we made a couple rounds around the park, watched the geese and observed the squirrels as we got to know each other a little better. We then stopped at the pet supply store in Crocker Village to see if he wanted to pick out a treat or toy. Although he wasnât interested, he behaved so well in the store, respecting shoppers space, not pulling too hard, and walking at a slower pace. We then drove to my apartment complex which is by Fremont park. There we visited the office lobby where my dog loving apartment manager gushed over Lucas and he received lots of pets and a treat. We then made about three rounds walking around Fremont Park before we drove to Old Sacramento where we visited Pittador Brews which is a very dog friendly coffee and tea shop. There he was greeted by the owner and given a pup cup and treat. We sat outside and enjoyed our snacks as lots of people cooed at handsome Lucas. We walked around old sac until it got too warm and we headed back to the car to head back to the shelter
