Hello! My name is Talg (which means Snow in Arabic), and here is a little bit about me: Breed: Golden Retreiver MixAge: 4 years Gender: MaleWeight: 35 kg (77 lbs)Country of Origin: EgyptHighlight(s): Gentle, intelligent, sensitive, affectionate, loyalHi there! I'm Talg, a gentle giant with a heart full of love. Once I trust you, I'll be your most loyal and affectionate best friend.Life as a stray wasn't easy for me. I was attacked by street dogs many times, and one attack left me with severe injuries to my paw and leg. It was so frightening that I became scared of other dogs and even stopped wanting to go outside. Thankfully, I was rescued and brought somewhere safe, where I've slowly started learning that not everyone wants to hurt me.I'm a very sweet, gentle, and sensitive boy who loves people once I get to know them. When I first meet someone, I'm usually shy and keep my distance until I know I'm safe. Once I trust you, my affectionate side shines through, and I love being close to my people.Although I now live with many friendly dogs, I still find them overwhelming because of my past experiences. Most of the time, I prefer to relax in a quiet corner where I feel secure. The only dog I truly enjoy playing with is my friend Sukar. I also adore cats and get along wonderfully with them.My dream home is a calm, quiet one with patient and understanding people who will give me the time I need to build confidence. I would do best as the only dog in the home, where I can feel safe and relaxed without the stress of other dogs. Older, respectful children would be a better match than a busy household with lots of activity. With patience, kindness, and love, I'll reward you with endless loyalty and affection.Energy Level: Low to ModerateI get along with:Dogs: Selective (would do best as the only dog)Cats: YesKids: Yes, older respectful children preferredFears: I am afraid of other dogs due to past attacks while living on the streets. I can also be shy around new people at first. Please be patient as I adjust to my new home and learn to trust.Training:Leash skills: Some. Please continue helping me build my confidence.House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home.HEALTH NOTES: No known medical concerns. I have been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee.[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper.
