My name is MELODY and here is a little info about me:Breed: Jindo Mix / Mixed BreedAge: Approximately 2 years oldGender: MaleWeight: 16 kg / 35.3 lbsHeight: Not measuredHighlight(s): Smart, people-friendly, knows basic commands, good leash skills, lively with good energyI am a smart and people-friendly boy with a shiny black coat and white markings on my chest. I have large upright ears, bright eyes, and a lively personality. I enjoy being with people and I respond well to guidance. I was rescued in 2024 from Miryang Shelter in Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, where I was at risk of euthanasia. At that time, I was about 8 months old and still a young puppy. After I was rescued, I was moved to safety and have been cared for since then. I have now grown into an adult dog and am ready to find my forever family. Although I had a difficult start, I am now learning how to live with people and continue to grow with structure, guidance, and care.I do well with both women and men. I like people and I am responsive to human guidance. I know basic commands such as sit, down, paw, and house/crate. As I am lively with good energy, I'll do best with a family who can give me calm guidance, regular exercise, and consistent routines. When I have time to settle, I listen well and focus nicely on people. I walk well on leash overall. When something catches my attention or my energy goes up, I may need calm leash guidance, but I listen well when my handler leads me calmly. My best home would be with a family who can provide regular walks, playtime, structure, and continued basic training. I would do well with someone who enjoys a smart dog with good energy and can continue helping me with leash manners, calm routines, and daily exercise. Since I already know some basic commands, I would benefit from a family who can continue building on what I have learned.I have not been tested with children yet, so a calm and careful introduction would be needed. I get along with dogs as I have been observed getting along with dog friends, but proper and calm introductions are always needed when meeting new dog.; Cats are unknown. I have not been formally tested with cats yet. I may become a little excited or show interest when I see cats. Kids are unknown. I have not been tested with children yet. No major fears have been observed at this time. Like many rescue dogs, I may need time to adjust to a new home and routine. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.I know basic commands such as sit, down, paw, and house/crate. Please continue helping me with basic training, calm routines, leash manners, and settling skills in my new home. I walk well on leash overall. Please be prepared to continue leash training with me. I am outdoor potty trained. However, I may have accidents in a new environment, so please help me build a consistent potty routine and understand where to go in my new home.I am healthy and have no known major health issues. I have been neutered and my vaccinations are complete. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
