Once I sat on the floor, she slowly made her way over for attention. She’d almost sit, with her little butt hovering, like she wanted to relax but wasn’t quite sure how. After that, she wanted to be as close as possible, pressing into me every time I tried to move.-She wasn’t interested in toys and didn’t eat the treats offered, but what she really wanted was something much simpler: to feel safe, loved, and close to someone. It was so hard to say goodbye when all she wanted was to stay in that moment.
