10/17/26 Katana is in New England and ready for her forever home!
We do not know her breed. Maybe some kind of Hound mixed with who knows what? Maybe some Lab? She is likely a mix of many breeds. She is about 15 pounds or so. She’s getting to be house trained. She still has accidents, but they can be greatly reduced by letting her out often enough. She knows enough to go to the door when she has to go. She is about 4 months old.
She’s friendly with other dogs, and generally submissive to them. She might be teething as she nips a little from time to time. She’s a great, very energetic pup.
The story of Katana and her littermates:
These beautiful little babies had such a hard start in life. They were dumped along with their mama in a very remote area in rural Arkansas, next to the river, under a bridge. Their sweet mama did all she could to protect her babies from the wild hogs that frequent the area, and other dangers. She tried her best to produce enough milk to feed them and keep them healthy. We are so proud of her and her efforts to raise her young. Sadly, dogs are not equipped to live in the wild any more. We took that from them long ago. Mama did the best she could, but it cost her dearly. She was starved almost to death. The puppies were slightly underweight but overall in decent condition, which tells us all we need to know about a mother's love for her babies. She gave her all to them. Thankfully, she was rescued along with her babies. These puppies are so sweet and happy! Just having a regular diet and a little affection has made all the difference for them. They are now in a foster home where all of their needs are being met and they are thriving! There is really no telling what all breeds they have mixed in there. Mama seems to be a squirrel dog or bird dog of some sort. She is a good hunter, which is probably the only thing that allowed her and these babies to survive before they were rescued.
They will not be large dogs. We believe they will be a nice medium size, maybe 40-50lbs once grown. They are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on heartworm & flea/tick prevention.
