(Located Austin Texas)Meet Cyrano – A Ragdoll Romantic with a Heart of Gold! Male | Approximately 2–5 Years Old | Presumed Purebred Ragdoll | Nearly 10 lbsThey say Cyrano de Bergerac had a way with words, but our Cyrano doesn't need poetry to steal your heart. Just give him a brush, and he'll serenade you with the most magnificent purr!Named after the famous romantic hero Cyrano de Bergerac, this handsome gentleman is believed to be a purebred Ragdoll, although his pedigree has not been formally verified. And much like his literary namesake, Cyrano has a tender heart, a romantic soul, and a love story that is still waiting for its happy ending.Cyrano came to SOS Cat Rescue & Rehoming as part of a heartbreaking abuse and neglect case involving a backyard breeder. He was one of several presumed purebred Ragdolls rescued from conditions where proper nutrition, grooming, and basic care had been neglected. When Cyrano arrived, he weighed nearly 10 pounds. While that might sound substantial, he is actually underweight! In fact, he was one of the heavier cats rescued from this situation, which tells you just how much these beautiful animals had been deprived of proper care. But here's what makes Cyrano so extraordinary: Despite everything he's endured, he's one of the friendliest cats from the entire rescue group!A Gentleman Who Believes Love Should Be His ChoiceCyrano is affectionate, gentle, and genuinely enjoys human companionship. But this romantic gentleman has one little request: He would like to be the one who decides when it's time for cuddles. He isn't necessarily the kind of cat who wants to be scooped up and placed in your lap on demand. He prefers a relationship built on mutual trust, patience, and understanding.Let Cyrano come to you. Allow him to decide when he's ready to climb into your lap or settle beside you. Respect his boundaries, and you'll discover a wonderfully affectionate boy who truly appreciates being loved. And if you want to know the quickest way to his heart?Bring out the brush!Cyrano absolutely loves being brushed, and he rewards your efforts with a wonderfully big, rumbling purr. It's as though he's telling you how grateful he is to finally experience gentle hands and loving attention. For a cat who came from such neglect, hearing that happy purr is especially meaningful.A Handsome Ragdoll Who Needs His Daily Spa TreatmentCyrano's beautiful coat requires daily grooming, and fortunately, this is something he genuinely enjoys! His future family must be committed to brushing him every day to prevent tangles and painful matting. This isn't simply about keeping him looking handsome—it's an important part of his physical comfort and well-being.And with that big purr of his, grooming time might just become your favorite part of the day, too!His Special Nutritional & Medical CareCyrano is still recovering from the effects of prolonged neglect, and his nutritional rehabilitation is an essential part of his adoption. His new family must agree to follow the specific feeding and supplement regimen established by SOS Cat Rescue. His required care includes:Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach Wet Food: As directed in his feeding plan.Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach Dry Food: To complement his wet food according to SOS's recommendations.Purina Pro Plan FortiFlora: A probiotic supplement to support digestive health.Liqui-Tinic: A nutritional supplement to be administered according to his prescribed instructions.Daily brushing and grooming: Essential for maintaining his coat and preventing painful matting.Weekly weight monitoring: His adopter must weigh him and provide weekly progress updates to his SOS foster team.Ongoing communication: His family must be willing to work closely with SOS fosters during his recovery.Because Cyrano is underweight, consistency in his diet and supplements is especially important. His nutritional plan should not be changed without consulting SOS and his veterinarian.Behavioral: Cyrano was one of the healthiest cats from the situation he came from, however, he needs to be started off in a place or room where he can investigate. He has separation anxiety from "a human". When the foster leaves the room, he screams out for her and will walk in circles around the room. When she comes back in and holds him, he is purring and good. An Experienced person with experience with anxiety in cats is the perfect adopter. Who Is Cyrano's Perfect Match?Cyrano's ideal adopter is someone who understands that the most meaningful relationships aren't rushed—they're earned. We are looking for someone with extraordinary patience, a gentle approach, and a genuine appreciation for a cat who wants to participate in affection on his own terms. His perfect person will understand that being friendly doesn't necessarily mean wanting to be held constantly. Cyrano enjoys love and attention, but he deserves the freedom to decide when and how he receives it.His ideal home will offer:A calm, loving environment where he can settle in at his own pace.Someone who respects his boundaries and allows him to initiate lap time and affection.A family willing to commit to his daily grooming and specific nutritional requirements.Someone comfortable providing weekly weight reports and communicating with his foster team.Above all, a person who recognizes that patience, consistency, and gentle affection are the foundations of trust.Cyrano isn't looking for someone to shower him with attention every minute of the day. He's looking for someone who will be there when he chooses to come close. And when he finally curls up in your lap because he wants to—not because you put him there—you'll know you've earned something incredibly special.Every Great Love Story Deserves a Happy EndingThe original Cyrano de Bergerac was a man with an enormous heart who struggled to believe he deserved to be loved. Our Cyrano has spent years without the care, comfort, and affection he should have received. But despite his past, he still believes in people. He still welcomes gentle hands. And when someone takes the time to brush his beautiful coat, he responds with a purr so big that you can't help but smile.Cyrano doesn't need someone to rescue him anymore. SOS has already done that. What he needs now is someone who will make sure he never needs rescuing again.Someone who will feed him properly, brush him lovingly, celebrate every ounce he gains, and let him decide when it's time to climb into their lap.Because the greatest love stories aren't about demanding affection. They're about creating a place where love feels safe enough to come to you. Cyrano's will be written in patience, gentle brushing, a magnificent purr, and the beautiful moment he chooses you.Thank you for considering adopting one of our kittens/cats.
