❤️ Personality & Breed Information

Meet Misty, an adorable 8-month-old Cocker Spaniel mix weighing just 15 pounds! This beautiful little girl has a friendly, loving personality and is ready to find a forever family who will cherish her for the wonderful companion she is.

Misty is a sweet young dog with so much love to give. Her friendly nature and affectionate personality make her a lovely candidate for a family looking for a companion who enjoys being part of everyday life.

At eight months old, Misty is at a wonderful stage of development. She's moving beyond early puppyhood but still has plenty of youthful energy, curiosity, and opportunities to learn. She's ready to experience all the wonderful things that come with having a family of her own.

Whether it's enjoying a walk, spending time with her favorite people, or simply relaxing in a comfortable home, Misty has the potential to become a treasured member of the family.

About the Cocker Spaniel Breed

Cocker Spaniels are known for their gentle personalities, affectionate nature, intelligence, playful energy, and strong bonds with their families.

Originally developed as sporting dogs, Cocker Spaniels often enjoy activities that combine physical exercise, mental stimulation, and companionship.

As a Cocker Spaniel mix, Misty may share some of these typical breed characteristics:

Affectionate and people-oriented: Many Cocker Spaniels enjoy close relationships with their families and appreciate regular attention.

Friendly and social: They often enjoy interacting with people and participating in family activities.

Playful and cheerful: Their happy personalities can make them entertaining and enjoyable companions.

Intelligent and responsive: Many respond well to positive reinforcement training and gentle encouragement.

Moderately active: They typically enjoy daily walks, interactive games, and opportunities to explore.

Sensitive and gentle: Cocker Spaniels often thrive with patient, kind training methods and a predictable routine.

At 15 pounds, Misty is currently a small companion, although she may continue growing as she approaches adulthood.

Her ideal family will appreciate her loving personality while providing the exercise, enrichment, training, and companionship she needs to thrive.

Misty has the kind of sweet personality that can make an ordinary day feel a little more special. All she needs now is someone to share those days with!

Training, Adjustment & What to Expect

At eight months old, Misty is entering adolescence, an important stage when young dogs continue developing confidence, learning boundaries, and building good habits.

Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so adopters should be prepared to continue working on house training if needed, leash manners, basic obedience, recall, calm greetings, appropriate chewing, household boundaries, and positive socialization.

Because Cocker Spaniel mixes can be intelligent and sensitive, Misty will benefit from positive reinforcement, patience, consistency, and gentle encouragement.

Short, enjoyable training sessions using treats, praise, and interactive games can help her learn while strengthening her bond with her new family.

Exercise & Daily Activities

Misty would benefit from a balanced daily routine that includes:

Regular walks and opportunities to explore.

Interactive games and supervised playtime.

Positive reinforcement training and basic obedience practice.

Puzzle toys and enrichment activities.

Quiet time, affection, and companionship with her family.

Although Misty is a smaller dog, she will still need appropriate exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and healthy.

Living With Other Pets

Misty is considered suitable for homes with other dogs and children, with appropriate introductions and supervision.

Her compatibility with cats has not yet been confirmed.

As with any rescue dog, introductions to new animals should be gradual, supervised, and respectful of each pet's comfort level.

The 3-3-3 Rule

Every rescue dog needs time to adjust to a new environment.

3 Days: Time to decompress, observe her surroundings, and begin feeling safe.

3 Weeks: Time to understand her new household routine, build confidence, and become more comfortable.

3 Months: Time to strengthen her bond with her family, settle into daily life, and begin feeling truly at home.

These are general guidelines rather than strict deadlines. Every dog adjusts at their own pace.

Misty deserves a family who will provide patience, encouragement, stability, and reassurance as she settles into her forever home.

Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care

Misty is up to date on her vaccinations, and her spay status has not yet been confirmed.

Her future adopter should review her medical records with a veterinarian to determine whether additional vaccinations, deworming, flea and tick prevention, microchipping, or other preventive care are needed.

If Misty has not yet been spayed, her family should discuss appropriate arrangements with a veterinarian.

Important Cocker Spaniel Care Considerations

Cocker Spaniels are beautiful dogs with some specific grooming and healthcare needs that responsible adopters should understand.

Depending on the coat Misty inherits, she may require regular brushing and professional grooming to prevent tangles and matting.

Her future family should also be mindful of:

Ear health: Cocker Spaniels have floppy ears that can trap moisture and may be prone to ear infections. Routine ear checks and appropriate cleaning are important.

Coat maintenance: Regular brushing and grooming help maintain a healthy coat and prevent painful mats.

Eye health: Some Cocker Spaniels are predisposed to inherited eye conditions, making routine veterinary monitoring important.

Dental care: Regular tooth brushing and professional dental evaluations help support long-term oral health.

Weight management: Maintaining a healthy weight helps protect joints and supports overall well-being.

Joint health: Some Spaniel mixes may be susceptible to orthopedic concerns, including kneecap or hip problems.

These are potential breed-related considerations, not diagnosed conditions in Misty.

Daily Care & Owner Responsibilities

Misty will need:

High-quality nutrition appropriate for her age, size, and activity level.

Routine veterinary examinations and preventive healthcare.

Daily exercise and interactive playtime to support her physical and mental well-being.

Regular brushing, grooming, and ear care appropriate for her coat and ear type.

Dental care and nail maintenance for her long-term comfort.

Consistent flea, tick, and parasite prevention as recommended by her veterinarian.

Continued training and positive socialization to help her mature into a confident adult dog.

A safe, loving home environment with plenty of companionship and affection.

Adopting Misty is a lifelong commitment that includes providing proper nutrition, veterinary care, training, exercise, safety, companionship, and unconditional love.
