At just one year old, Paco is at an exciting stage of life. He's discovering the world, developing his personality, and learning how to become a confident, well-mannered companion.
With his loving nature and manageable medium-small size, Paco has the potential to make a wonderful addition to a family looking for a young dog to grow alongside them.
Whether it's enjoying playtime, exploring new surroundings, or spending quality time with his favorite people, Paco is ready to experience the happiness that comes with belonging to a family.
About the Terrier Breed
Terriers are known for their intelligence, curiosity, playful personalities, determination, and enthusiasm for life.
Originally bred for various working roles, Terriers are often energetic, alert, and eager to investigate their surroundings.
As a Terrier mix, Paco may share several typical breed characteristics:
Playful and energetic: Terriers often enjoy interactive games, daily walks, and opportunities to explore.
Intelligent and curious: They can be quick learners who benefit from positive reinforcement and mental stimulation.
Affectionate and loyal: Many develop strong bonds with their families and enjoy spending time with their favorite people.
Confident and spirited: Terriers are often known for their enthusiastic personalities.
Active and athletic: They generally appreciate regular exercise and activities that keep them mentally engaged.
Independent thinkers: Consistent training, patience, and clear household expectations can help them succeed.
Because Paco is a mixed breed, his individual energy level and behavior may differ from these general breed tendencies.
His ideal family will appreciate his sweet personality while providing the exercise, training, enrichment, and companionship he needs to thrive.
Paco is a loving young boy with so much happiness to share. All he needs now is a family ready to give him the wonderful life he deserves!
Training, Adjustment & What to Expect
At one year old, Paco is a young adult who is still developing important life skills and learning how to navigate the world.
Although he's no longer a tiny puppy, he may still display typical adolescent behaviors such as excitement, curiosity, playful energy, and occasional testing of boundaries.
Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so adopters should be prepared to continue working on house training if needed, leash manners, basic obedience, recall, appropriate chewing, calm greetings, household boundaries, and positive socialization.
Paco will benefit from a family that understands the importance of patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.
Training should be encouraging and enjoyable, helping him build confidence while strengthening his relationship with his new family.
Exercise & Daily Activities
As a young Terrier mix, Paco will benefit from a balanced routine that includes physical exercise, mental enrichment, and plenty of opportunities for companionship.
He may enjoy:
Daily walks and opportunities to explore new environments.
Interactive games and supervised playtime.
Positive reinforcement obedience training.
Puzzle toys, treat-dispensing toys, and scent games.
Learning new commands and practicing good manners.
Spending quality time with his family.
A consistent routine that includes both activity and relaxation.
At 26 pounds, Paco is a manageable size for many households, but his future family should remember that young dogs still require time, attention, supervision, and consistent training.
Living With Other Pets
Paco is considered suitable for homes with other dogs and children, with appropriate introductions and supervision.
His compatibility with cats has not yet been confirmed.
Because some Terriers have strong chasing instincts, introductions to cats and other small animals should be approached carefully.
All introductions should be gradual, supervised, and respectful of each animal's comfort level.
The 3-3-3 Rule
Every rescue dog needs time to adjust to a new environment.
3 Days: Time to decompress, observe his surroundings, and begin feeling safe.
3 Weeks: Time to understand his new household routine, build confidence, and become more comfortable.
3 Months: Time to strengthen his bond with his family, settle into daily life, and begin feeling truly at home.
These are general guidelines rather than strict deadlines. Every dog adjusts at their own pace.
Paco deserves a family who will provide patience, encouragement, stability, and reassurance as he settles into his forever home.
Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care
Paco is up to date on his vaccinations, and his neuter status has not yet been confirmed.
His future adopter should review his medical records with a veterinarian to determine whether additional preventive care, parasite prevention, microchipping, or other veterinary services are needed.
If Paco has not yet been neutered, his family should discuss appropriate arrangements with a veterinarian and follow the rescue's adoption requirements.
Important Terrier Health Considerations
Terrier mixes can be wonderful, active companions, but responsible ownership includes understanding their potential healthcare needs.
Depending on Paco's individual genetics, some considerations may include:
Dental health: Regular tooth brushing and veterinary dental examinations help prevent periodontal disease.
Skin and coat health: Some Terriers can be prone to skin sensitivities or allergies, making regular grooming and monitoring important.
Joint health: Certain Terrier breeds may be predisposed to orthopedic concerns, including patellar luxation.
Weight management: Maintaining a healthy weight helps support mobility, joint health, and overall well-being.
Parasite prevention: Regular flea, tick, heartworm, and intestinal parasite prevention should be discussed with a veterinarian.
Routine wellness care: Annual examinations and appropriate preventive screenings help identify potential concerns early.
These are general breed-related considerations and should not be interpreted as diagnosed conditions in Paco.
Daily Care & Owner Responsibilities
Paco will need:
High-quality nutrition appropriate for his age, weight, and activity level.
Regular veterinary examinations and preventive healthcare.
Daily exercise and interactive playtime to support his physical and mental well-being.
Continued training and positive socialization as he matures.
Mental enrichment through games, puzzles, and engaging activities.
Routine grooming, dental care, and nail maintenance.
Consistent flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention as recommended by his veterinarian.
A safe, secure home environment with appropriate supervision during outdoor activities.
Plenty of companionship, affection, and patience as he learns and grows.
Understanding the Commitment of a Young Dog
Although Paco is already one year old, his future family should be prepared for the responsibilities that come with adopting a young dog.
This includes helping him establish a consistent routine, providing appropriate outlets for his energy, reinforcing good manners, and understanding that training is an ongoing process.
Young dogs may occasionally chew inappropriate items, become overly excited, or need reminders about household expectations.
With patience, structure, and positive reinforcement, Paco can continue developing into a wonderful adult companion.
Adopting Paco is a lifelong commitment that includes providing proper nutrition, veterinary care, training, exercise, safety, companionship, and unconditional love.
