Sage is a beautiful 1 1/2 year old female beagle mix looking for a lovely family to call her own. Weighing in at approximatley 23 pounds, this petite little girl is the perfect size for a perfect someone. Sage was rescued with about 21 other dogs from a life of squalor by the Humane Society. Despite her horrifying beginnings, Sage is still pure love and happiness. She is happy and social and bouncy - she even did a spot on WFMJ a week ago (coming soon to the noon news!). She was absolutely brilliant. Can you say TELEVISION STAR??Sage is going to be a wonderful addition to just about any family. She is dog friendly, would likely be just fine with kids, is ready to experience the good life! Cats are an unknown, but with a little work we think she would probably be just fine. She is doing well walking on a leash and gets better every day with every single walk she gets. Sage definitely has the energy to keep up with an active family - yet she has a great off switch that makes for lovely snuggly nights after the day is done. Considering where Sage came from, we assume that her house training skills are probably going to need a little bit of work - but she does a good job of keeping her kennel clean, and should remember what it's like to live in a clean safe and healthy house in no time flat. She will need basics such as crate training and obedience training, but she's bright and food motivated, and we have no doubt will be fun to work with and train. Like most any beagle type dog, Sage isn't one who can be trusted off leash unsupervised. While a fence is ideal for her, it isn't an absolute requirement so long as her new family pledges to keep our girl safely on leash. Beagles live by the nose and when they catch a scent, common sense sort of flies out the window. They will follow the smell of that which they are suddenly seeking, stop, look up, and realize they have NO IDEA WHERE THEY ARE. Not fun for her or you!Sage is ready for adoption.
