Hi! My name is Dancer, and if you are looking for the cuddliest dog, look no further! I am a lap dog in a 60-pound body! Not much is known about the first two years of my life until I was found wandering the streets as a stray in Minneapolis. I was taken to the shelter, and due to shelter stress found myself on the euthanasia list. That's when Hope stepped in and I moved to Iowa in January! Since then, I have come a LONG way! I recently completed a 4-week board and train program, and I have the skills to prove it! I am crate trained and will sleep in a crate at night or when you leave the house, but I also love to cuddle next to you at night — or really any time you sit down on the couch. Consider me your permanent cuddle buddy! I know how to sit, down, place, shake, and heel! I am an excellent leash walker and even have off-leash recall and e-collar training under my belt. I am highly treat motivated and do a great job of gently taking treats! I am also cat friendly and a great road trip buddy who rides like a champ in the car! I am still polishing a few things, like staying off counters and occasional demand barking, but I have made tremendous progress! I am a dog who needs daily exercise, and I prefer walks over playing in the yard. Fair warning, I am tough on my toys, so the more durable the better! Because I am a sensitive soul who has been through a lot of change, I will need a patient owner who understands that it may take me a few weeks to fully settle into a new home, and I may test a few boundaries while I find my footing. That's totally normal for a dog like me! An experienced owner with a consistent routine will help me thrive. As for other dogs, my trainer describes me as "dog neutral," which means I am not particularly dog-driven but can coexist peacefully with the right companion. I do currently share a foster home with other dogs, so I am no stranger to canine roommates! That said, any potential four-legged siblings would need to meet me first to make sure we are a good match before heading home together. I may still be a work in progress, but I promise that with a little patience and consistency, I will spend every single day making you glad you chose me. I have already come so far, and with the right family by my side, I know the best is still yet to come. Could that family be you?
