Meet Canela!
Canela found herself at the San Jacinto shelter. You might think a cute puppy would be adopted quickly, but Canela has a bony lump on her head that the vet believes may be a birth defect. Two of her siblings, who were adopted separately, also had smaller lumps on their heads.
Despite being just a puppy, Canela was red-listed and at risk. Thankfully, a foster stepped up, and we were able to get this sweet girl to safety!
Canela is a scared little girl who is still learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. Loud noises and fast movements frighten her, so she’ll need a patient family willing to help her socialize, build confidence, and learn to trust.
She’s currently fostered with three large dogs and is doing well with them! She loves playing outside with her canine foster siblings and follows her foster mom around the yard. When she’s not outside enjoying some playtime, you’ll find her searching for a cozy spot inside the house to curl up and relax.
Her foster siblings are also helping show her that receiving love and affection from her foster mom is a wonderful thing!
We believe Canela would do best in a home with another confident dog who can help continue to show her that the world isn’t so scary.
Canela needs someone willing to give her the time, patience, and encouragement she needs to blossom. Could that be you?
Canela is located in Southern California.
