Say hello to Auggie, a handsome 2-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing in at 60 pounds of pure personality! With his adorable face, soulful eyes, and a heart full of love, Auggie is ready to find a family who will welcome him into their home and make him part of everything they do. Unfortunately Auggie's owner passed away and there was no one to take care of him, so he ended up at an animal shelter on the euthanasia list. Mere hours before his deadline one of our wonderful foster moms stepped up and saved his life, for which Auggie will always be eternally grateful, as are we at the rescue. Auggie currently lives in an apartment. His foster mom takes him to the dog park attached to her apartment complex where he loves to play with his doggy friends and has so much fun. Auggie is a medium energy level and would love a fenced backyard but it is not a requirement. Auggie does great on the leash and loves going for walks. Auggie is a social guy who absolutely loves playing with other dogs! Whether he’s making new furry friends or enjoying time with his favorite people, he’s happiest when he’s part of the action. He also did great on his cat test at the shelter and once with the foster but doesn't currently live with a cat. One thing you should know about Auggie, he believes personal space is overrated! This sweet boy loves being underfoot and close to his people. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants to be wherever you are, Auggie might just be your perfect match. He’s the kind of dog who wants to be included in the everyday moments, not just the big adventures. As far as the rescue is aware, Auggie has not been around small children. Auggie already has some great life skills, too! He is housebroken and crate-trained, giving his future family a wonderful head start. At night, he loves sleeping in bed with his foster mom, because why sleep alone when you can snuggle with your favorite human? He will need some continued patience and training before he’s ready to have free roam in the house while everyone is away, but with consistency and guidance, he can continue building those skills. Auggie would love a home where he can be included in family life, enjoy playtime with other dogs, and receive plenty of love, attention, and companionship. He’ll thrive with a family willing to continue his training, help him build confidence and independence, and give him the time he needs to settle into his forever home. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, a playful friend for your dog, and a sweet companion who will happily follow you from room to room, Auggie is ready to steal your heart. He is ready to trade his foster home for a forever home. Could that home be yours? Interested in adding Auggie to your home? Contact your adoption coordinator. Auggie is fostered in Charlotte NC.
