Meet Chocolette: A uniquely chocolate-coated kitty with an eccentric personality and an equally quirky look.A little about her backstory: Chocolette was originally named "Chaco," after the now discontinued Choco-Taco ice cream treat. However, once her foster mom discovered that this little chocolate-colored mystery creature was actually a girl, her name got a feminine upgrade. She was trapped at a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) site at a rundown motel off Colfax in Denver, where her foster mom had been working for months to manage the community cat population. Rather than return Chocolette outdoors, her foster mom recognized something special in her: a kitty with enormous potential and a genuine desire for affection, warmth, and security. So, she decided to give her a chance at indoor life and worked on socializing her. It took a few months of patience, but Chocolette has blossomed into a wonderful, delightfully eccentric little companion.About her looks: Chocolette is about 7-9 months old and has a gorgeous, unusually rich brown coat (yes, actually BROWN!) with medium-length fur and a few subtle white tufts peeking out from behind her ears. Some people might think she's a little disheveled or scroungey looking, mostly because of a missing patch of fur halfway down her tail that somewhat resembles a witches broomstick. It may grow back at some point but as of now, her foster mom finds it an endearing little oddity. She has sort of intense eyes (which are almost perpetually dilated). Her foster mom affectionately refers to her as "Gremlin". Chocolette will likely remain a petite kitty - around 10 pounds tops. Her foster mom believes this is partially due to stunted growth from lack of consistent access to food at the beginning of her life.Chocolette has some lingering food insecurities from her days of not knowing where her next meal would come from. Although she's making progress, she still occasionally behaves like every meal might be her last. When served wet food, she'll sometimes frantically grab a mouthful and whisk it away to a secluded corner to eat, just in case someone might try to take it. She's also VERY food motivated, which makes winning her affection relatively easy. Her favorite treats include Churu sticks, unseasoned rotisserie chicken, and turkey lunchmeat.Despite nearing the end of kittenhood in terms of age and size, Chocolette is still very much a kitten at heart. She currently lives with a younger kitten who she loves chasing, wrestling, snuggling, and generally getting into shenanigans with. She gains a tremendous amount of confidence and reassurance from other friendly, confident cats, so having a feline companion isn't just a bonus for her; it's something that really helps her thrive. She would make an especially wonderful companion for another playful kitty who could use a buddy for entertainment, companionship, and the occasional wrestling match. As for dogs, Chocolette has met a few and can coexist with them just fine, provided they understand the concept of personal space. Calm, respectful dogs who don't bark excessively or insist on investigating her every move are perfectly acceptable. High-energy, overly curious, or pushy dogs, on the other hand, make her a little nervous.Chocolette also lives with an 8-year-old human who regularly pets her, picks her up, and carries her around. She could do well in a home with children, provided they're gentle, respectful, supervised, and understand how to recognize when a cat needs a little space. She's generally a sweet girl, but she does have boundaries. If petting becomes a little too much, she'll occasionally offer a gentle warning nibble to communicate, "Okay, that's enough for now, please!" These little reminders are not aggressive and don't break the skin; they're simply her way of asking you to slow down. She has plenty of other entertaining little quirks, too. One of her foster mom's favorites is when she's being petted on top of her head and suddenly props herself up on her hind legs like a prairie dog. It's equal parts ridiculous and adorable. She can be a little shy around unfamiliar people initially, but a soft voice, a little encouragement, and a treat or two are usually all it takes to win her over.Chocolette's ideal home: A loving, patient home with at least one friendly, playful, confident resident cat is at the top of her wish list. She'd do well with gentle, respectful children and potentially a calm, cat-savvy dog. Her new family should appreciate her quirky personality, give her time to settle in, and understand that building trust is a process. She doesn't need perfection; she just needs consistency, kindness, and the security of knowing she's finally home.Chocolette is one of those cats who is impossible to mistake for anyone else. She's a little scruffy, a little strange, occasionally dramatic, and absolutely overflowing with personality. Her foster mom has completely fallen in love with her unusual looks and all her silly little ways. After a rough start to life, this girl deserves a future filled with full food bowls, cozy places to nap, feline friends to wrestle with, and people who adore every last bit of her wonderfully weird self.If you've got room in your heart (and perhaps your home) for a miniature chocolate-colored gremlin, Chocolette might just be your girl! The practical stuff: Chocolette is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV.
