Foster or forever home wanted, meet Anastasia. The days leading up to the dreaded 4th of July holiday are dangerous for dogs that have been in overcrowded shelters for any length of time. Add to that, a senior that has a grape sized oral mass in her mouth, that also came down with an upper respiratory infection.
Anastasia came into the San Bernardino shelter as a stray on May 15th. As with many dogs these days, she didn't have a collar, tag or microchip and no one ever came looking for her. It's honestly amazing she was still there on July 2nd! We had actually gone to the shelter to pick up another senior named Gunner that ended up having a buddy he came in with named Blaze. We never leave a dog behind if we know they entered the shelter with another.
When we were there to pick up Gunner and Blaze, the shelter staff told us about Anastasia. We knew if we left her, she wouldn't make it past the holiday. So, we made the decision to get her out of there so her medical could be addressed and get her into a loving home to live out her days.
The shelter staff said she is very sweet, friendly and a happy social dog. Anastasia has been kenneled with other dogs during her stay and has been great with them all.
