Meet Mattie – Your Fun-Loving Shadow!
Mattie is a 1-year-old, 23-lb. standard poodle mix with a big personality, endless energy and so much love to give. Like many young poodles, she’s playful, goofy and always ready for her next adventure! Her favorite things? Fetch, tennis balls, jumping around and being wherever her people are. If you’re looking for a dog that will happily be your sidekick, Mattie is your girl. She loves following her humans from room to room and will happily “borrow” a slipper or two if you leave them lying around.
Mattie is friendly with other dogs and is always eager to make new friends. She keeps trying to convince her foster brother, Buddy, to play with her—even though he’s still deciding if she’s worth all that enthusiasm! Mattie is about 80% potty trained and is making great progress. She’s learning that potty time happens outside, but she does best when someone goes into the backyard with her. If she’s left outside on her own, she will sometimes come back inside and have an accident, so she’ll need a family who is willing to continue her training with patience and consistency. As a young poodle mix, Mattie is still learning manners. She can be mouthy during play and likes to gently play-bite hands when she’s excited or being pet. Because of this, she’d do best in a home without very young children. She’s also still learning how to walk nicely on a leash, and her future family should be excited to continue her training. At bedtime, Mattie sleeps well in her crate and or snuggled in bed with her people. She’s currently learning to settle in her own dog bed beside the bed, and she’s making steady progress. While she’s a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up with kindness and patience. Once she trusts you, she’ll be your loyal little shadow. Mattie did well when she was tested with a cat.
If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, active companion and are ready to help a young dog continue learning, Mattie has all the ingredients to become an incredible lifelong best friend. Due to her young age and higher energy, we are requiring a fenced yard for her to run around in. And she would love a young and playful fur play sibling. As a poodle mix, she will need regular brushing and grooming.
