Meet Eden, the Malinois pup. Eden arrived to the Shelter as an owner surrender after her previous guardians were unable to continue caring for her. She lived in a home with two other dogs (labs) and enjoyed playing with them. Typical to dogs her age and breed, Eden can be a bit mouthy when she plays or is overstimulated. Adopters should be mindful of this in interactions and redirect her mouth towards appropriate toys and chews. Eden has been around a 2 year old child and did well. Any homes with children should involve guardians monitoring any and all interactions to ensure everyone stays save. Eden has lived with cats and does enjoy chasing them but never harmed them. A very dog-savvy cat and a slow thoughtful introduction may be a fit. She was observed to be house trained in her previous home. Eden loves to play fetch and be with her people. She is a cuddler. Adopters should ensure they are doing breed specific research prior to adoption to ensure that they can provide the mental and physical enrichment Eden needs in the day to day to be a happy, well rounded pup. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week. Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
