Overview

Could you be the patient, gentle presence that helps a sweet boy learn to trust again? Meet Rambo, a purebred dachshund around 2 years old, weighing about 13 pounds, with a striking smooth blue Isabella coat.

Rambo was found as a stray. Once he feels safe, he is incredibly affectionate, happiest curled up in a lap soaking up pets and ear rubs. He took about two days to warm up to his foster, and that same patient approach will go a long way in his forever home.

Environment

Rambo does well with potty pads when they're available and will otherwise hold it until taken out. He uses a pen rather than a crate, and he loves going on walks though he's still learning leash manners. A yard would be a nice bonus but isn't required, and he's a quiet housemate who does fine with shared walls. He's very content being left to his own devices, and he rides comfortably in the car.

Pets & People

Rambo is a bit of a scaredy pup at first, especially around men, and he hasn't shown much interest in kids so far, so he'll do best in a calm adult household. He can be guarded with new people and may shake when he's nervous, but he settles beautifully once he learns he can trust someone. He gets along fine with other dogs and hasn't shown any reactivity, and loves a good snuggle. He has not been tested with cats. At mealtime, his comfort level shows: once he trusts you, he eats with real enthusiasm, but he'll hold back if he's still getting to know someone. His foster noted one uncertain moment around food that didn't happen again, so a little extra space and consistency at mealtimes will help him feel secure.

Health & Special Needs

Rambo had a UTI when he was found; it has been treated and he is doing well. Overall he is a healthy and happy dog.
