Meet Alanis Meowisette, also known as Purdy, and one look at her makes the nickname pretty self-explanatory. This gorgeous medium-haired tabico has striking coloring, including a face divided between orange and tabby markings. She is the kind of kitten who turns heads immediately, but Alanis would like you to know that admiration is welcome from an appropriate distance until she decides you're ready for the full experience.
Alanis is a secret admirer in the truest sense. Reach straight toward her for a pet and she might decide you've skipped a few steps in the relationship. Lie down and mind your own business, though, and suddenly there is a very good chance you'll discover Alanis curled up directly on your stomach or chest, purring like she has belonged there all along. She absolutely loves cuddling. She simply prefers to be the one who decides when cuddling begins. You Oughta Know who is in charge here.
Once she settles in, Alanis has a wonderfully silly side. She likes to roll onto her back and turn tummy rubs into a playful attack on your hands. Mice, springs and balls are all fair game too. She is energetic, interactive and full of personality, but she is equally willing to lounge around when that's what her human has planned. In other words, she can rock the house or spend an afternoon curled up with you, depending entirely on the day's agenda.
Alanis also has her own little communication system. She will meow when she wants food or wants to play, which makes deciphering her wishes fairly straightforward. She is food motivated and eats both dry and wet food, although she reserves the right to have opinions about which wet foods deserve her attention. She has no reported litter box issues and has shared a box with another kitten.
She has had positive interactions with kittens, cats and dogs, and although she is not bonded to another animal, she could happily share her home with a feline or canine companion. She could also do well as the only pet, provided her humans understand that Alanis appreciates affection on her own terms.
That same preference makes a household with considerate, gentle or older children the best match. Alanis does not necessarily want hands coming straight toward her before she knows someone well. Let her make the first move, and you'll soon discover the kitten who wants to curl right up against you.

Alanis does affection her way, and once you learn her rhythm, you get the best of both worlds: an independent little beauty with the heart of a total cuddle bug.
