Meet Dolly Purrton, a fearless little tabico who believes every new experience deserves closer inspection. Her colorful coat comes with white mittens and a particularly adorable mismatched pair of front paws, one striped and one orange. She's cute enough for the stage, but unlike her famous namesake, Dolly has no intention of working 9 to 5. Her schedule is much more demanding: explore, play, investigate, nap, repeat.
Dolly is the brave sister of her trio. She was the first to venture out and explore and the first to walk right up and sniff the dogs in her foster home. Curious and independent, she likes knowing what's happening and is perfectly happy taking the initiative when something new appears. If there's a mysterious room, unfamiliar toy or interesting animal nearby, odds are Dolly will be the one conducting the initial inspection.
She is affectionate too, but like any proper superstar, she has boundaries. Dolly is not particularly interested in being scooped up and carried around, and reaching straight toward her for pets may not win you immediate approval. Let her come to you instead. She will happily curl up next to you, and if you're especially lucky, climb right on top of you for some cuddles and head rubs. Dolly knows what she wants and has no trouble setting the terms.
Dolly loves to chase her own tail, spinning around and around in pursuit of an opponent who somehow remains exactly one step ahead. It is one of her foster's favorite Dolly quirks and a perfect example of the goofy kitten hiding underneath her confident exterior. Add mice, springs and larger kicker toys to the mix and this energetic girl has plenty of ways to keep herself entertained.
For all that personality, Dolly is surprisingly quiet. She sometimes opens her mouth as though a dramatic announcement is coming, only for barely any sound to emerge. Her tiny near-silent meow might be one of the cutest surprises about her. When playtime is finished, she likes sleeping in a basket, on a blanket or beside your legs.
Dolly is food motivated and enjoys both wet and dry food, although she can be selective about the wet-food menu. She has excellent litter box habits, uses scratching pads and posts, and walks easily into her carrier.
Her confidence extends to other animals. Dolly lived with her sisters and two older cats and was playful with the grownups. She has also been curious and confident around two dogs. She is not bonded to another pet and could be perfectly happy as a singleton, although she would also enjoy sharing her home with another cat, kitten or dog.
A household with gentle, considerate or older children would suit Dolly best, particularly because she does not enjoy being carried and wants petting to happen on her terms. Respect those preferences and she will happily show you her softer side when she is ready.
Here You Come Again, Dolly, trotting over to investigate something new, spinning in circles after your own tail and then quietly settling beside someone's legs when the adventure is over.
