Meet Luna!
A soulful eight-and-a-half-year-old Terrier mix currently living in Hadley, MA, whose expressive eyes and silky black coat, with charming white accents, tell a story of resilience, sensitivity, and deep affection.
At just 35 pounds, Luna is a gentle heart wrapped in a bundle of quirks, intelligence, and tender needs. This bright girl knows how to sit, wait, lay down, spin, and even offer a polite paw! Proof that she’s no stranger to learning, especially when her guardian uses patience and positive reinforcement. Luna thrives on structure and calm routines. She adores morning walks and has a soft spot for chew toys that help her decompress.
Luna has made remarkable progress with separation anxiety! She once became overwhelmed when her caregiver prepared to leave, sometimes running underfoot or nipping at legs. She has not nipped since January, following months of thoughtful training and routine building. Today, she calmly settles into her crate while her caregiver gets ready for work and looks forward to her daily dental treat before departure.
Luna remains sensitive to loud noises and hectic environments, but her anxieties have become noticeably quieter with consistent support. She has also grown much more comfortable riding in the car, another encouraging sign of her ability to learn, adapt, and build confidence! Her compatibility with other pets is currently unknown, and because transitions can be stressful for her, a thoughtful introduction and careful consideration would be important if other pets are present.
Perhaps Luna’s most inspiring quality is her resilience! Over nearly a year of consistent care, she has become more trusting, curious, confident, and gentle, allowing her sweet personality to shine more fully. She continues making meaningful strides through some of her biggest everyday anxieties.
Now, let’s talk about Luna’s most adorable quirk: when she’s feeling safe and snuggly, she’ll roll right onto her back and wiggle her way into your arms for belly rubs. It’s her way of saying, “You’re my person,” and it’s guaranteed to melt your heart! Her progress shows just how much potential this sensitive girl has when given patience, predictability, and compassionate support.
Luna needs a caring family ready to continue building her confidence while celebrating every joyful milestone along the way. Could you be the patient, loving pet parent ready to join Luna for her next chapter? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!
