Meet Chester!
A calm three-year-old Domestic Short Hair currently in San Marcos, CA, whose gentle spirit comes wrapped in a handsome orange and white tabby coat and an impressive talent for turning any available lap into his favorite resting place.
At about 12 pounds, Chester is a medium-sized boy with a wonderfully affectionate personality! In familiar surroundings, he is social, cuddly, and eager to be part of whatever his people are doing. His purr seems to have a nearly endless supply of batteries, especially when snuggles are involved! Visitors may quickly discover Chester joining them on the couch, ready to settle in and make himself comfortable. He enjoys being picked up, loves attention, and considers sleeping a perfectly respectable hobby.
Chester also has one quirk: glass confuses him. Life with this sweet tabby may include a few amusing moments as he tries to figure out why those mysterious transparent barriers keep appearing in his world.
While Chester is confident and loving once he feels secure, unfamiliar environments can be frightening for him. Trips to the veterinarian or groomer, carriers, and new surroundings may bring out a defensive side that is very different from the relaxed companion his family sees at home. His new pet parent should be prepared to give him a quiet, patient transition of about two weeks, allowing him to explore, decompress, and build trust at his own pace.
Chester is great with kids and is comfortable and gentle with children of all ages! When it comes to other cats, he is neutral. He does not mind feline companions, although he generally does not seek them out. His compatibility with dogs is currently unknown, so careful, gradual introductions would be important if dogs are part of his new family.
Chester is neutered, his vaccinations are up to date, and he is ready for a next chapter filled with cozy naps, couch companionship, steady purrs, and plenty of snuggling! With patience while he settles into unfamiliar surroundings, his affectionate, people-loving personality can shine.
