Meet Scout!
Scout is an approx. 4-year-old, 32lb. possibly golden retriever/spaniel or setter mix looking for his forever family — and if you’re looking for a loving little shadow, Scout might just be your guy!
Scout is an absolute cuddle-bug who loves his humans BIG. Wherever you go, he wants to go too! Whether you’re relaxing on the couch or moving around the house, you can pretty much count on Scout being right there by your side. Because he bonds so closely with his people, a home where someone is around more often would be ideal for him. He is good with all people including kids.
He has the sweetest little personality and LOVES his stuffed animal “baby.” He also LOVES food and gets very excited when it’s time to eat!
Scout is doing great with his house manners. He is potty trained, sleeps through the night in his crate, and walks nicely on a leash. He’s also working on his basic commands, including “sit,” and has been making great progress.
His energy level tends to match his humans. He gets plenty of energy and excitement in the morning, but once he’s had his fun, he’s happy to spend much of the day snoozing. When Scout gets excited though he can be very jumpy, but he’s working on it.
Scout does well with his foster sister and enjoys having a doggy friend around. He hasn’t been around smaller dogs yet, and we think he may chase cats. He would also be okay with being the only dog.
He also does well riding in the car. He will try to make his way into the front seat at first, but once he settles in, he rides well.
One thing Scout definitely wants you to know: he is NOT a fan of thunderstorms. When storms roll in, he will look for somewhere safe to hide. Having a patient family who can reassure him during storms will be important.
Scout is also heartworm positive at this time, and is on the slow kill protocol, which we can explain that process to any interested applicant. She can enjoy regular activities. Heart worm disease is contracted from an infected mosquito and can not be transmitted to another dog.
Most of all, Scout is just a sweet, affectionate boy who wants to be loved and be with his people. He would love a forever family who will give him the time, patience, companionship, and cuddles he deserves.
