Breed Info
As a Hound / Terrier mix, S’mores combines:
The Hound’s strong scent drive and natural instinct to track movement
The Terrier’s curiosity, energy, and alert personality
Hounds were historically bred to
follow scents and chase small animals
, which is why many may not do well with cats or small pets.
This is not a flaw in S’mores—it’s simply part of his natural instincts and breed background.
With the right home environment, these traits make him engaging, fun, and full of character.
Ideal Home
S’mores would do best in a home without cats and with a secure yard where he can safely explore and enjoy his energy. He will thrive with an active family who enjoys playtime and outdoor time.
Owner Responsibilities
S’mores will need daily exercise, including walks, yard time, and opportunities to burn energy. He benefits from structure, routine, and continued engagement.
A secure yard is important, as dogs with hound traits may be inclined to follow scents. Ongoing training, supervision, and positive reinforcement will help him stay balanced and happy.
He should be included as an indoor family companion, with regular interaction and attention.
Things to Consider
S’mores is not suited for homes with cats or small animals due to his natural instincts. He will do best in an environment where he can safely express his energy without those triggers.
He is an active dog who needs space and engagement. Please ensure your home, yard, and lifestyle are a good match for his needs.
The 3-3-3 Rule
3 days to decompress
3 weeks to learn your routine
3 months to fully feel at home
With consistency and the right environment, S’mores will thrive.
Veterinary Care
S’mores is fully vetted and in good health. We recommend continuing care with your veterinarian for routine wellness exams, preventative care (flea/tick, heartworm), dental health, and weight management.
Maintaining regular veterinary care will help ensure he stays healthy and active long-term.
Important Note
S’mores is an indoor family dog. He is not to be chained or left outside.
